Giving Tuesday

Compassion – Pass it On!

This year, on #GivingTuesday, we are asking you, our community, to come together to pass on your compassion and to truly make a difference. Your generosity will help sustain our Ninth Life, Public Spay/Neuter Voucher, IRS programs, our Mercy Fund, and support the daily needs of the animals in our care. (MEOW Cat Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, ID#91-1743911.)

We are awed and inspired by the compassion of our supporters who raised over $60,000 which will provide a soft place to land for the animals in need.

What is #GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past ten years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Compassion – Pass it On!

At MEOW we believe that our organization is truly driven by compassion: the compassion of our staff, volunteers, adopters, veterinary partners, and supporters. With all of us working together, we are able to pass on that compassion and make a difference in the lives of companion animals in need.

This year, on #GivingTuesday, we are asking you, our community, to come together again to pass on your compassion and to truly make a difference.

Last year our amazing supporters raised just over $50,000 on #GivingTuesday, which helped sustain our Ninth Life, Public Spay/Neuter Voucher, IRS programs, our Mercy Fund, and support the daily needs of the animals in our care. For example, our expected expense this year of our Public Spay/Neuter Voucher Program, which provides vouchers for no-cost spay or neuter surgeries for the animals of people in need of support to do the right thing, will be about $30,000 (about 500 surgeries). By year end, we expect that approximately 25 cats in our care will have needed and received dentals, which relieve significant mouth pain and improve overall health, at a cost of about $25,000.

Throughout the day we will be providing updates on donation matches available and amounts raised as well as sharing stories of compassion on Facebook and Instagram.

Thank you for sharing our passion and our compassion.

How Your Compassion Helps

Whether you direct your donation to our Public Spay/Neuter Voucher Program, Ninth Life Program, Mercy Fund, Canine Division, or our General Fund, you’ll be saving lives!

Since 2011 our Public Spay/Neuter Voucher Program has provided free alter surgeries for more than 5000 pets whose owners needed financial support to #DoTheRightThing.

Our Ninth Life Program supports MEOW cats whose options for adoption are small or non-existent due to extreme old age, chronic health issues, or severe but manageable health challenges. These kitties are placed in loving foster homes, where they are cared for and cherished for their entire lifetimes. MEOW covers the ongoing medical expenses and other costs of care and the foster homes provide the comfort and companionship.

Our Mercy Fund provides financial support for animals in need of life-saving emergency or specialized veterinary care.

Our Canine Division is small but mighty, relying on several foster homes to rescue and place between 10 and 20 dogs each year, often ones with special needs or whose options might be limited at other shelters.

Our General Fund provides for the everyday expenses of running the shelter and covering the needs of the cats in our care. It may not be flashy, but keeping the general fund strong is critical.

If the timing of a one-time donation this year isn’t the right fit, we’d like to encourage you to become part of our small but dedicated group of recurring donors. Spreading the expense of the donation over 12 months is a great option, and recurring donations provide an additional safety net each month which allows us to continue to provide critical care and comfort to our residents, and help our community do the right thing for their pets, all moving us towards a day of no more homeless pets.

A recurring gift (just choose the frequency when you donate) is a wonderful and very generous way to share the compassion of #GivingTuesday all year long. Thank you!
